Walkers are wanted as are donations. Packets for walkers and donors are on the Opportunities Table in Fellowship Hall. Take a packet and recruit folks to walk with you and/or to make a donation in support of the 7 Rivers Maine chapter of Habitat.

The 3 mile route will begin and end at the Mid-Coast Presbyterian Church, 84 Main Street, Topsham.

Route - Habitat Spring Walk

At the halfway point you can pause at the First Parish Church in Brunswick where water, snacks and restrooms will be available. The walk route is in-town along sidewalks and safety volunteers will be present at major crossings. Parking is available at Mid-Coast Presbyterian. Shuttle vans will be available should anyone want transportation back to Topsham. FMI visit the Habitat/7Rivers Maine page.  Pastor Char will be walking, and she’s encouraging car pooling! Let her know that you’ll join the fun!

There also is a Team “Second Congregational Newcastle” for online donations directly via (https://www.crowdrise.com/donate/event/HabitatforHumanitySpringWalk). Select team “Second Congregational Newcastle” in the drop-down window; choose amount; add your name where it says “Show this name …” (you can choose to be anonymous or completely invisible); add comment (optional); choose “Hide Amount” and/or “Don’t Show My Name”; add your payment information. The “crowdrise” service that Habitat/7RM uses for fundraising charges a fee – you can absorb the fee and add it to your donation amount, or you can let the fee be deducted from the amount that Habitat receives. If you absorb the fee, you can include it in your donated amount for tax purposes.
Thanks in advance for your support and participation!

Some older events are chronicled below:

Have Shoes – Will Travel!

shoes bound for GuatemalaA nice thank you was received this week from the H.O.M.E. Cooperative in Orland, Maine for our congregation’s gift of men’s black dress shoes for an upcoming mission trip. The shoes are being packed in suitcases and will be delivered by mission workers during their April trip to their sister community in Guatemala. Members of our congregation “sponsored” the shipping cost of the donated shoes as their Advent project last December.

Youth Group Christmas Outreach

A snowy day on Thursday was perfect for packing up all of the generous donations given by our church family for the Grace Street Ministry’s work with the homeless of Portland. The youth group is very excited at the response to this collection of gifts, which were delivered Saturday 1/4/14 and will be distributed during the coldest weeks of winter. We collected 8 coats, 2 backpacks, 1 pair of boots, 48 pairs of warm socks, 1 pair of mittens, 7 pairs of gloves, 4 hats, 12 gift cards for Dunkin Donuts and Subway, and 22 chapsticks. Thanks to all for supporting this project, and especially to our youth and to Laurie for walking the walk of our Christian talk.
